It’s true, people typically get kissed by dolphins, not manatees. Not because manatees are dangerous though; you can pet them easily enough. I think dolphins are easier to train.

Having seen manatees, they’re not dangerous at all, even the wild ones. They’re really friendly and curious in general.
People do much more harm to them than the other way around.
