So sad but so true. Take it from Herman, kids: stay away from those bubbles.

Thanks everyone – I think you’ll like the strips to come. If you haven’t already, subscribe to the RSS or write “HERMAN WEDNESDAY” on your wrist!

I love manatees. I found this comic today because of an ad, I think on Bear and Kitten. I wish Herman weren’t so sad, but he’s also trusting and optimistic, which are very good manatee traits. Maybe someday he’ll find a quiet cove, at least for a short vacation.

A webcomic about my favorite animal… why wasn’t I notified of this earlier?

I am at once horrified and fascinated. I keep clicking “previous.” I can’t stop. I live in Florida near the river so I’ve seen this kind of thing before – though never so comically. ;-)

By any chance did Herman the Manatee take inspiration from Gregarious the Manatee of EcoQuest (” I keep gettin’ hit by the same dumb speedboat every time I go up to the surface to breathe.”)?

No! I’ve never played EcoQuest. But it seems to me you can’t have a story about manatees without including boat collisions.

Herman the Manatee will delight your whole family in his zany attempts to go about his business before getting maimed by an outboard motorboat. Laugh along as he manages to find himself in trouble again and again! Will that silly manatee never learn?
