Any strip you want for only $50 each! The size varies, but most were drawn on 11×14 Bristol. This is the first time I’m selling originals, so most are currently available. Box Brown is the creator of the thoughtful relationship webcomic Bellen! and, currently, the series Everything Dies. Everything Dies is an exploration of death, the afterlife, and meaning, that is both personal and universal. Box Brown is openly atheist but he retells ancient myths and presents modern religious ideas and customs without editorializing. He stays true to the stories and allows us to consider what inspires them. Stories that become myths and worldviews are the most powerful stories we tell each other; Everything Dies remains in awe of them and show us their modern-day impact.

Earlier this year, I met Cara Bean at MeCAF, and we soon discovered that we live right down the street from each other! We’ve since become good friends; she even takes care of my cat when I’m away!

Drawing herself as a bean, Cara tells autobiographical stories of past hardships that are alternately amusing and sad. All her comics are wonderful, and you should make sure to check out her minicomic, The Gremlins Movie Incident before they all disappear. A curious storyteller who likes to experiment with different media and techniques, she is working on an ambitious new comic that disposes of beans altogether! Just when you got comfortable.

I feel sincerely fortunate to have found an artist I admire living so close by, who has a cartooning life very much aligned with mine.

Hooray for KC Green, one of the most talented and prolific cartoonists on the internet! His current project, Gun Show, is a hilarious free-form collection of dark, cute, and ugly characters that humiliate themselves for our amusement. When I first started posting comics online, I was truly inspired and moved by his autobio series, Horribleville, which handles topics like writer’s block, self-hatred, and depression with a unique blend of absurdity and honesty. KC’s is a singular voice in comics; his drawing style borrows from many sources but remains wholly his own. With cartooning that feels effortlessly alive, he is a young artist with a gigantic career ahead.

As I mentioned last time, Herman the Manatee is drawing to a close. As you suffer through these last miserable weeks, consider buying some original art!

We are about two-thirds through Herman the Manatee’s final story arc (which started back here). My plan is to finish this story by mid-December, and then I will present a few guests strips. I’ll have one final strip to say goodbye, and after that I will stop torturing this poor manatee.

I’ll write a longer post about this later! The reason I am completing the Manatee Saga is so I will have more time to work on new comics.
